A Weekend in Cesky Krumlov

After spending some time in Vienna, we decided we wanted to take a weekend road trip but thought Prague would be just a little too far for just the weekend. That's when a friend recommended the gem that is Český Krumlov.

Where to stay: Stay in town to get the most of the experience and the charming city. There are so many little hotels and bed and breakfasts. Pensione Marie was adorable and absolutely lovely. Many places have parking, so ask ahead and they may be able to reserve a spot for you. Try to avoid the tiny winding streets by car as much as possible. It's such a walkable city, so park your car and leave it.

Things to eat: Treat yourself to a nice meal at Le Jardin then pick up some chocolate treats at Bon Bon Chocolate Shop (get some hot chocolate!). Get some pork knee at the best restaurant in the city, Krčma Šatlava. Apparently it's always booked and has long waits, but we got a table right away. It can be hit or miss so try a few times because it's a must eat! If you want amazing cocktails go to Zapa Bar and just point at anything on the menu and I promise it will be fantastic. And grab a beer pretty much any and everywhere.

Things to do: For stellar panoramic views, go on up to the castle. Walk through the Castle Garden and catch a show at the revolving auditorium. Book your tickets earlier because depending on the show they could be sold out well in advance. If you're feeling adventurous rent a canoe and take a trip down the river. Choose your start and end points and you can take all day tour or only an hour or two. There are plenty of places to stop, rest, and grab a bite and a beer.
